Geet Chaturvedi published his first poem in 1994 when he was 17, but he took further 16 years to publish his first collection. ‘Aalaap Mein Girah’ came out in 2010. The oldest poem in this collection was written in 1995. This book received an overwhelming response from the readers and critics as well.
Shaped in his formative years by post-Emergency India and later by the paradigm shift of economic liberalization initiated in the ’90s, Geet’s poetry started out in a realist mode. ‘Aalaap Mein Girah’ is a book where a complex and realist poet is at work.
Veteran Hindi poet Vishnu Khare wrote a detailed afterword for this book. He called Geet Chaturvedi “a fearless realistic political poet” while stating, “Geet is among the few Hindi poets who watch the lumpenisation and dehumanisation of Indian society with a keen eye.”
